What is Vilon?
A synthetic two-amino-acid peptide and the shortest in its series, also known as KE, Vilon is studied for its effects on immune function and biological ageing. Research focuses on its proposed regulation of gene expression through direct DNA interaction and its links to ageing-associated genes.
- Studied for its proposed regulation of gene expression through DNA interaction.
- Investigated in research models for immune-cell signalling.
- Examined for its links to ageing-associated genes in research models.
- Used as a research tool to study peptide bioregulators in models of cellular ageing.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
Pairing a basic lysine residue with an acidic glutamic acid, the dipeptide Vilon is among the shortest synthetic peptides investigated within the Khavinson regulatory peptide research framework. Also known as Lys-Glu dipeptide, has the molecular formula C11H21N3O5 and a molecular weight of 275.30 g/mol. The charge complementarity between its two constituent residues has been hypothesised to facilitate direct interactions with DNA regulatory regions. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro gel retardation and surface plasmon resonance assays have examined whether Vilon binds specific promoter sequences of genes associated with cell cycle regulation in thymic epithelial cell preparations. In vivo rodent models have explored whether exogenous Vilon administration modulates thymic cellularity and cortical-medullary architecture in aged animals.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
