What is Prostamax?
A synthetic four-amino-acid peptide designed from fragments of prostate tissue, also known as KEDP, Prostamax is studied for its effects on prostate tissue and benign prostatic enlargement. Research focuses on its proposed direct action on DNA and its tissue-specific effects in prostate models.

Substitution of a C-terminal proline in place of glycine within the Khavinson KED-based tetrapeptide series produced Prostamax, a compound investigated for its tissue-specific association with prostatic gene regulatory networks. Also designated Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro prostatic tetrapeptide, has the molecular formula C22H37N5O9 and a molecular weight of 531.56 g/mol. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro studies using prostatic epithelial cell cultures have examined whether Prostamax modulates transcription of genes encoding androgen receptor co-regulators and prostatic secretory proteins. In vivo aged rodent models have explored whether systemic Prostamax administration produces gene expression changes selective to prostatic tissue rather than other urogenital tissues.
