What is HEP-1 (Gepon)?
A synthetic peptide based on the liver-expressed antimicrobial peptide family, also known as Gepon, HEP-1 is studied as a regulator of the body's iron supply. Research focuses on the hepcidin system's control of iron through the cellular iron-export channel ferroportin.
- Studied for its role in the hepcidin-ferroportin iron-regulation system.
- Investigated in research models for iron-export pathways.
- Examined for its modulation of cellular iron handling.
- Used as a research tool to study iron homeostasis.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
Derived from a defined 14-amino acid fragment of human ezrin spanning residues 324-337, HEP-1 belongs to a class of cytoskeletal protein-derived peptides investigated in innate immune signalling research. Also known as Gepon, approximate molecular weight of 1500 g/mol. The parent protein ezrin functions as a membrane-cytoskeleton linker within the ERM family. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro studies using monocyte and macrophage cultures have examined whether HEP-1 modulates Toll-like receptor clustering and downstream MyD88-dependent cytokine gene transcription. In vivo rodent models have explored the biodistribution and tissue accumulation profile of HEP-1 following systemic administration, examining whether the peptide localises preferentially to lymphoid tissues.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
