What is Selank?
A synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide based on a fragment of the immune molecule tuftsin, Selank is studied for its effects on anxiety-related behaviour and immune signalling. Research examines its influence on inhibitory neurotransmission in the brain and on the balance of inflammatory signalling molecules.
- In rat hippocampal slice preparations, Selank increased the amplitude and frequency of spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents, indicating enhanced GABAergic transmission.
- Rodent behavioural studies report anxiolytic-like effects without the sedation or dependence associated with benzodiazepines.
- Studies describe modulation of enkephalin-degrading enzyme activity, prolonging the half-life of endogenous enkephalins in plasma.
- Under social-stress conditions in rodents, administration was associated with altered expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines including IL-6.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
Structural extension of the endogenous immunopeptide tuftsin with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide yielded a stabilised analogue attracting sustained interest across neuroimmunology and neuropeptide signalling research. Selank, also designated TP-7 (CAS 129954-34-3), has the molecular formula C33H57N11O9 and a molecular weight of 751.88 g/mol. Its sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro preserves the native tuftsin tetrapeptide core. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro studies using splenocyte and peritoneal macrophage preparations have investigated whether TP-7 modulates cytokine expression profiles through mechanisms related to or distinct from native tuftsin receptor engagement. In vivo rodent behavioural pharmacology models have explored the compound's influence on monoaminergic neurotransmitter metabolism in limbic structures.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
