Orexin B (Hypocretin-2) is a naturally occurring 28 amino acid neuropeptide co-produced with Orexin A from the prepro-orexin precursor protein in lateral hypothalamic neurons. Unlike Orexin A, Orexin B exhibits preferential selectivity for the OX₂R receptor over OX₁R, making it a pharmacologically distinct tool for receptor subtype-selective studies.
