Peptide YY (PYY 3-36)

Peptide YY (3-36) — commonly referred to as PYY 3-36 — is a 34 amino acid truncated form of the gut hormone Peptide YY, produced by endoproteolytic cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV). It is the predominant circulating form of PYY and acts as a selective agonist at the neuropeptide Y2 receptor (Y2R), mediating postprandial satiety signalling from the gastrointestinal tract to the central nervous system. As a research compound, PYY 3-36 is widely used in studies of gut-brain axis signalling, appetite regulation, and Y-receptor pharmacology in vitro. It is produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
