What is Peptide YY (PYY 3-36)?
A synthetic 34-amino-acid gut hormone and the main circulating form of Peptide YY, PYY 3-36 is studied as a satiety signal. Research focuses on its selective action at the neuropeptide Y2 receptor in the appetite-controlling region of the hypothalamus.
- Studied for its selective action at the neuropeptide Y2 receptor.
- Investigated in research models for satiety-signalling pathways.
- Examined for its activity in the hypothalamic appetite-control region.
- Used as a research tool to study gut-hormone signalling.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
Proteolytic processing of the full-length PYY(1-36) by dipeptidyl peptidase-IV yields the truncated 34-amino acid form PYY 3-36, the predominant circulating species and the primary endogenous agonist at the neuropeptide Y2 receptor (NPY2R). Peptide YY (PYY 3-36) carries the molecular formula C167H265N47O49 and a molecular weight of 3743.24 g/mol. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro studies using hypothalamic arcuate nucleus neuron preparations have investigated whether PYY 3-36 modulates Gi-coupled inhibition of adenylyl cyclase and downstream MAPK signalling at NPY2R, examining how receptor internalisation kinetics differ from those observed with full-length PYY(1-36). In vivo rodent models have explored the vagal afferent signalling pathways engaged by peripherally administered gut hormone peptide.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
