What is Kisspeptin?
A synthetic ten-amino-acid peptide representing the active fragment of the reproductive hormone metastin, Kisspeptin is studied as a master switch in the reproductive hormone cascade. Research focuses on its activation of the GPR54 receptor on the neurons that control reproductive hormone release.
- Studied for its activation of the GPR54 (KISS1R) receptor.
- Investigated in research models for the regulation of the reproductive hormone axis.
- Examined for its action on GnRH-releasing neurons.
- Used as a research tool to study reproductive endocrinology.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
Positioned at the apex of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, Kisspeptin-10 is a C-terminal decapeptide fragment that has become the primary pharmacological tool for investigating GPR54 (KISS1R) receptor signalling in reproductive neuroendocrinology research. Also known as Metastin 45-54 (CAS 374683-28-0), carries the molecular formula C63H83N17O13 and a molecular weight of 1302.45 g/mol. Its sequence Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-Phe-Gly-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2 contains the minimal C-terminal motif required for full KISS1R activation.
In vitro studies using GnRH-expressing hypothalamic cell lines have investigated whether Metastin 45-54 activates Gq/11-coupled phospholipase C signalling and intracellular calcium release at KISS1R. In vivo rodent models have examined the acute and pulsatile effects of central Kisspeptin-10 administration on GnRH secretion dynamics and downstream luteinising hormone pulse frequency.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
