What is Colivelin?
A synthetic hybrid peptide fusing two separate neuroprotective sequences into a single chain, Colivelin is studied for its protection of nerve cells. Research focuses on how it activates two distinct signalling cascades at once, one from each of its component domains.

Chimeric peptide engineering fusing an activity-dependent neurotrophic factor fragment with a Humanin-derived sequence produced the 26-amino acid construct Colivelin, a compound engaging multiple neuroprotective signalling axes within a single molecular framework. Also designated ADNF-HN chimeric peptide, approximate molecular weight of 3000 g/mol. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro studies using cortical neuron preparations have investigated whether Colivelin engages both the STAT3-dependent pathway attributed to Humanin and the VPAC2/cAMP axis attributed to ADNF-9. In vivo rodent models have explored whether the chimeric construct achieves CNS bioavailability and tissue distribution distinct from that of its individual component peptides administered separately.
