What is ACE-031?
A recombinant fusion protein that acts as a molecular sponge, also known as ActRIIB-Fc, ACE-031 is studied for its effects on skeletal muscle mass. Research focuses on how it traps several growth-regulating proteins at once, including myostatin, rather than blocking a single target.

Fusion of the extracellular domain of the activin type IIB receptor to an immunoglobulin Fc fragment created a soluble decoy receptor central to TGF-beta ligand-trapping research. ACE-031, also designated ACVR2B-Fc or ActRIIB-Fc, is a recombinant fusion protein with an approximate molecular weight of 60,000 g/mol. Produced as a recombinant protein.
In vitro surface plasmon resonance assays have measured the binding kinetics of ACE-031 against a panel of TGF-beta ligands including GDF-8, GDF-11, activin A and activin B. In vivo rodent models have investigated the downstream consequences of broad-spectrum ligand sequestration by ActRIIB-Fc on SMAD2/3 phosphorylation status across multiple tissue types.
