PEG-MGF (PEGylated Mechano Growth Factor) is a synthetic analogue of MGF (IGF-1Ec) in which the native peptide is conjugated to a polyethylene glycol (PEG) moiety. The PEGylation modification substantially increases plasma stability and extends the half-life of the native MGF sequence, making it a more stable research tool in studies of satellite cell activation, muscle regeneration signalling, and growth factor receptor pharmacology in vitro. PEG-MGF is produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis followed by selective PEGylation.
