What is IGF-1 DES?
A shortened form of insulin-like growth factor 1 missing its first three amino acids, IGF-1 DES is studied as a more potent, free-acting growth factor analogue. Research focuses on how the truncation weakens binding to carrier proteins while preserving activation of the insulin-like growth factor receptor.
- Studied for its activation of the insulin-like growth factor receptor.
- Investigated for its reduced binding to IGF carrier proteins.
- Examined in research models for localised growth-factor signalling.
- Used as a research tool to study free-acting IGF-1 analogues.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
Removal of the first three amino acids from the native IGF-1 N-terminus yields a truncated 67-amino acid analogue with markedly altered binding protein interactions. Des(1-3)IGF-1, commonly referred to as IGF-1 DES (CAS 67763-96-6), carries a molecular weight of 7371.39 g/mol. The N-terminal truncation substantially diminishes affinity for several IGF-binding proteins while preserving IGF-1 receptor recognition. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro competitive binding assays have quantified the displacement characteristics of IGF-1 DES relative to full-length IGF-1 at IGFBP-1 through IGFBP-6. In vivo rodent investigations have examined whether the reduced sequestration of IGF-1 DES alters the kinetics of IGF-1R phosphorylation and downstream MAPK/ERK cascade engagement.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
