What is LL-37?
A synthetic 37-amino-acid peptide and the only human cathelicidin defence peptide, LL-37 is studied for its antimicrobial activity and its role in immune defence and wound healing. Research focuses on its ability to disrupt microbial membranes and to coordinate immune cell activity.
- Studied for its antimicrobial membrane-disrupting activity in vitro.
- Investigated for its modulation of immune-cell activity in research models.
- Examined as the only human cathelicidin defence peptide.
- Used as a research tool to study innate-immune peptides.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
As the sole human cathelicidin-derived antimicrobial peptide, LL-37 occupies a unique position at the intersection of innate immunity, membrane biophysics and host-defence peptide research. Also known as Cathelicidin or hCAP18/LL-37 (CAS 154947-66-7), this 37-amino acid peptide carries the molecular formula C205H340N60O53S4 and a molecular weight of 4493.33 g/mol. Its sequence LLGDFFRKSKEKIGKEFKRIVQRIKDFLRNLVPRTES adopts an amphipathic alpha-helical conformation in membrane-mimetic environments. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro studies using model lipid bilayers and bacterial membrane mimetics have characterised the toroidal pore and carpet model mechanisms by which LL-37 disrupts membrane integrity. In vivo rodent wound models have investigated whether exogenous hCAP18/LL-37 modulates local chemokine gradients and neutrophil recruitment kinetics through formyl peptide receptor-like 1 engagement.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
