KPV is a synthetic tripeptide corresponding to the C-terminal sequence of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), comprising the amino acids lysine-proline-valine (Lys-Pro-Val). As the minimal active fragment of α-MSH with retained anti-inflammatory activity, KPV is studied in preclinical research investigating melanocortin receptor signalling, NF-κB pathway modulation, and cytokine regulation in cellular models in vitro.
