What is GHRP-2?
A synthetic peptide of the growth hormone secretagogue class, also known as pralmorelin, GHRP-2 is studied for its capacity to stimulate growth hormone release. Research examines how it activates the ghrelin receptor and works alongside the body's own growth hormone-releasing hormone.
- In ovine and rat pituitary somatotroph cultures, GHRP-2 stimulated growth hormone secretion via cAMP, calcium-channel and PKC/PKA signalling.
- Rodent studies report synergistic growth hormone release when combined with growth hormone-releasing hormone.
- Comparative work attributes its enhanced potency over GHRP-6 to substitution of a naphthylalanine residue at position two.
- Studies describe a secondary effect on appetite signalling consistent with ghrelin-receptor agonism.
For research use only. Not intended for human use.
Second-generation growth hormone-releasing peptides introduced key structural refinements that reshaped preclinical ghrelin receptor research, and Pralmorelin stands as one of the most extensively characterised compounds in that lineage. GHRP-2, also designated KP-102 (CAS 158861-67-7), has the molecular formula C45H55N9O6 and a molecular weight of 817.99 g/mol. Its sequence D-Ala-D-2-Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2 incorporates a D-2-Naphthylalanine residue at position 2. Produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis.
In vitro competition binding assays using radiolabelled GHS-R1a ligands have investigated the relative displacement potency of Pralmorelin against first-generation hexapeptides and non-peptide agonists. Rodent in vivo models have explored temporal patterns of hypothalamic-pituitary axis activation following GHRP-2 administration, with particular attention to dose-dependent modulation of endogenous GHRH neuronal output.
Manufactured in a quality-controlled laboratory to a guaranteed purity of 98% or above. Every batch undergoes independent third-party testing using HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored cold storage system. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Sold strictly for in vitro research purposes only. Not for human consumption. Intended for use by qualified researchers in laboratory settings only.
