What is IGF-1 LR3?
A lengthened synthetic version of insulin-like growth factor 1, carrying an extra amino-acid extension and a single substitution, IGF-1 LR3 is studied as a long-acting growth factor analogue. Research focuses on how these changes sharply reduce its binding to the carrier proteins that normally limit insulin-like growth factor activity.

Extension of the native insulin-like growth factor-1 sequence by 13 amino acids and substitution of glutamic acid-3 with arginine produced a structurally distinct analogue central to IGF-1 receptor signalling studies. IGF-1 LR3, also known as Long R3 IGF-1 (CAS 946870-92-4), is an 83-amino acid peptide with a molecular weight of 9117.55 g/mol. These modifications reduce affinity for IGF-binding proteins. In vitro studies using cell lines expressing IGF-1R have investigated Akt/PKB and PI3K pathway activation in the relative absence of IGFBP interference.
