Protein and Peptide Science Group
Date Posted: Friday, October 06, 2006
The Group is a group of the Chemical Biology Forum of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Originally founded in 1973 as the Chemical Society Protein Subject Group, it became the Royal Society of Chemistry Protein Subject Group in 1980. The Group has also a strong historic basis in Peptide chemistry. As the Protein and Peptide Science Group, it was, until recently, a joint group of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Biochemical Society.
The Group's mission is to maintain the logical progression of molecular science through chemistry into biochemistry, biology, medicine, plant and food science. Thus, it has an interdisciplinary approach, representing the Protein science interests of chemists, molecular biologists, structural biologists, Peptide chemists and biologists, medics, members of the biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical industries.
